Several questions raised on an earlier blog about the New Cross-Filing.
How it would work. Suppose you were a Democrat, last year, and you wanted to make sure you got a choice in the General election. You would go to the voting booth in the State election Primary and ask for a Republican ballot. You then could have voted for Riordan over Simon on the Republican ticket and, if we had Cross-Filing last year, Riordan would have won the Republican primary. The General election ballot would have given everyone a choice between Davis and Riordan. The winner, either way, would not have been recalled.

The New Cross-Filing would mean that you couldn’t cross file in a Presidential Primary because what you are actually voting for is a slate of delegates to a Party Convention. Party Conventions are considered, by the courts to be non-governmental entities. Political Parties are able to make their own voting rules about delegates to theirown conventions. All Parties want to limit their voters to Party members.
